Thirsty Thursday

My favorite summer beer.

Well, besides anything cold that might be in the refrigerator, like, you know, Mich Golden Light.

Summer Beer

So I'm a beer girl myself. I do enjoy mixed drinks and wine, but when I have a choice I go for beer. (I really like Michelob GOLDEN Light, which is only sold in Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakotas. I heard a rumor somewhere that it's Mich's rival to Bud Light. If anyone knows why it's only sold in the Upper Midwest, please tell me because other light beer drinkers need another choice besides Bud Light & Miller Light. Ok, small vent over).

I want to find the perfect summer beer. It could be an Ale, I don't really care. But I'm on a quest.
Goose Island is one of my favorite brewing companies. Their Summertime is nice and light, sweet and crisp. If the right temp, it's absolutely awesome. It's not really comparable to Blue Moon or Leinie's Honeyweiss, though similar at the same time. It still has a hint of fruitiness but not so overwhelming. Definitely great on a hot day! I'd put it in a frosty mug.
This Wacko by Magic Hat (Vermont) is way too sweet for me. I think actually that the fruit flies in the kitchen liked it more than I did. That's how sweet it is! It is also pink, so definitely pour this into a glass to get the full effect (it looks more like a cider gone wrong in a glass). Honestly, if I wouldn't have had the Goose Island first, I think I would've liked it more. This would be good to try if you're doing a sampler sort of party, but don't get a full 12 pack! That's a little too much sweetness that my teeth can't handle!

So, what's your favorite beer?!?!??? I want to try it!

Video: Winter Car Crashes

So um, it's winter in Indiana.

Most likely none of these videos are from Indiana.

But I'm posting these to remind you of winter driving conditions.

The one with the trooper is from Minnesota and I remember when it happened. Huge news!

Driving tip 1: Turn into a skid. Turn your wheel so it's going the same direction as the back of your car.

Driving tip 2: Keep at least two car lengths between you and the car in front of you. This may save your life and your car as well as your sanity.

Driving tip 3: Don't leave your house if you don't have to. Grab a hot toddy and a good book instead.

Hot Toddy

1 tbsp honey

3/4 glass tea

2 shots brandy

1 slice lemon

Brew tea (or in my case, fill teapot with hot water and then pour over tea bag when just boiling in a nice, tall mug) and fill a tall glass 3/4 full. Mix in honey and brandy. Add lemon slice and enjoy.
