You Gotta Love Random People!

What's In My Camera Bag?

Lots of crap.

Ok, ha! Not really...

A Nikon D70s. It's an older model in camera years, but in its prime, it was awesome. It still is. Now I want a D300, but I have to save up a little bit.

The love of my life. The Lensbaby. It's like an accordian - you focus with the actual lens and you do have to know how to take manual pictures for this. Luckily, it's a medium aperature so it works well in regular light.

50 mm, f/1.8D Nikkor lens. OMG. I can't live without it. You know, if there was one lens to choose, please, go with this one. It's pretty cheap for lens - $129 and you'll enjoy every minute of it.

Wireless remote. Take pictures of yourself! HA! Family portrait my butt, I don't mention that I have it but, well, now the secret's out... Honestly, this is great to have, especially if you photograph children. Set up your tripod, and then you can walk around, have them watch you and you can snap pics as you entertain them. Sounds easy? Um, no... The taking picture part, yes!

Main point - I love photography and I'm leaving you with some "affordable" options for your camera. My tripod = hand-me-down, my backpack was new, but I'll have to hunt down a link for it because it is a little older.

Have some fun! Try new photo stuff! Jump into views that are out of the ordinary, and most importantly, keep your camera with you at all times. You never know what you're going to find!

Deals, Meals & Steals

I get so many emails that sometimes its hard to keep up. And so I figured I could share with you what I get in my email inbox. I read when I get bored but since I need glasses I've been more of a "picture looker" than anything else!

Pizza Hut Valentine's Day Deal

Environmental Defense Fund - Feb '09 (stimulus info)

Dell At Home - DISCOUNTS!!!

Eat Better America

Betty Crocker's Dinner Made Easy

And I know there's more! I love getting cooking emails as well as emails for discounts, etc... though when there gets to be too many, I usually unsubscribe from them all until I've cleared out my inbox, organize and then start subscribing again. Hopefully you'll find some useful information, meals and deals.

Happy Friday!

Go Vegan. Um, Kind Of.

When I went to Paris, I couldn't NOT go into a Lush store. They were always open and inviting, with fun colors of products and fantabulous names of items that it was hard to just have a quick look. Plus the stores seemed to pop up on every street corner. They smell fantastic, are all natural and have products that everyday people will use. Trust me.

AND THEY HAVE BATH BOMBS.

Do you know what a bath bomb is?

They're like Heaven. In a bath tub.

And I like lavender the best because it's soothing, but whatever. The company is Canadian, so you'll notice that there's a lot of french in the names, or at least the french has been translated so in English some of the names read funny. Go figure!

I love sharing all of my fun favorite green companies! They make me happy!

Go green! Oops, I mean go vegan but don't realize you're going vegan!

How Much Is Your Shower Worth?

In continuation of trying to save money, I'm going to blog about what my shower is worth. I literally need to put $'s in front of me... Because I'm a visual person that is. Ha!

Total: $37.04
With tax: $39.63
My deep down and dirty thoughts: The total is much better than what my face is worth. Go figure.

Video: Winter Car Crashes

So um, it's winter in Indiana.

Most likely none of these videos are from Indiana.

But I'm posting these to remind you of winter driving conditions.

The one with the trooper is from Minnesota and I remember when it happened. Huge news!

Driving tip 1: Turn into a skid. Turn your wheel so it's going the same direction as the back of your car.

Driving tip 2: Keep at least two car lengths between you and the car in front of you. This may save your life and your car as well as your sanity.

Driving tip 3: Don't leave your house if you don't have to. Grab a hot toddy and a good book instead.

Hot Toddy

1 tbsp honey

3/4 glass tea

2 shots brandy

1 slice lemon

Brew tea (or in my case, fill teapot with hot water and then pour over tea bag when just boiling in a nice, tall mug) and fill a tall glass 3/4 full. Mix in honey and brandy. Add lemon slice and enjoy.
